Sophie Becher is a production designer known for crafting atmospheric, character-driven worlds where detail and texture quietly shape the narrative. With a background in sculpture and theatre design, her work is rooted in a hands-on approach to materials and space, often blurring the line between environment and story. Originally from the UK and working internationally, she is drawn to visually distinctive, emotionally driven projects, bringing curiosity, precision, and a refined sensibility to each.
Working across film and television, Becher’s credits include the Paramount+ series Halo; And Then There Were None for Director Craig Viveiros; Mike Barker’s The Bends and The Acolyte for LucasFilm and Disney (Leslye Headland and Alex Garcia Lopez).
Becher’s feature credits include Sam Esmail’s Panic Carefully starring Julia Roberts; You Should Have Left(David Koepp); LFF and TIFF-selected A Private War(Matthew Heineman); Lost in London (Woody Harrelson); LFF and TIFF-selected Unfinished Song (Paul Andrew Williams);Hysteria (Tanya Wexler); Warner Bros’ The Secret of Moonacre (Gábor Csupó); Flawless and LFF-selected B Monkey both for Michael Radford; Alfie(Charles Shyer) and Cannes-selected To Kill a King directed by Mike Barker, with whom she also collaborated on Best Laid Plans.
In addition to her narrative work, Becher has designed internationally recognised commercial campaigns, earning accolades including Cannes Lions. Across both long and short-form projects, her designs are defined by a sense of lived-in authenticity and psychological depth, with environments that subtly reveal character, mood, and narrative tension.
